From White's Gazeteer, History and Directory of Derbyshire, 1857: The Hagg, a handsome Elizabethn stone mansion, 1 mile NNW from Staveley, erected about 1630, for a hunting seat, is the property of the Duke of Devnshire, and residence of Mrs. Elizabeth Crawshaw.
